IDA employs digital technology to provide multichannel voice and voice band communications between customer equipment and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).

There are two types of this premium service, namely IDA-M and IDA-P. IDA-M provides single-way communication by DTMF technology while IDA-P offers two-way communication (incoming and outgoing) by Primary Rate Interface.
