World-class information infrastructure to help develop high-quality education programs
Hong Kong, August 15, 2005 - PCCW Limited's subsidiary Unihub Limited has been selected to provide a world-class information system to cover student support, human resources and accounting functions at The Chinese University of Hong Kong - Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Community College (CUTW).
The contract is an addition to the CUTW's IT capabilities provided by PCCW, following installation of a wireless broadband network that now enables students to access to Internet wherever they go on the campus.
Professor Richard M.W. Ho, President of CUTW Community College, said, "As Hong Kong is turning into knowledge-based economy and in view of the trend of globalization, it is crucial for us to remain competitive in our higher education to foster intellectual workforce, and information-technological support is the key to success. Unihub is to provide hardware, software, system integration and related services for the implementation of CUTW's Academic Infrastructure - Phase 1 Extension Application System. The objective will be to build a high-performance, scalable, interoperable and reliable architecture to support the continuing operation and development of CUTW.

CUTW Community College is the first community college in Hong Kong that has an independent and intelligent campus, and also is the first community college that has its own campus. The Mong Kok Campus, which has operated since July 2005, is located at Shantung Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon, and the main campus, which will start operating in 2006, is located at Wylie Road, Ho Man Tin, Kowloon.
