HONG KONG, September 28, 2011 – PCCW Solutions Limited ("PCCW Solutions"), a subsidiary of Hong Kong's premier telecommunications provider, PCCW Limited, has been awarded a HK$362 million contract by the Social Welfare Department to provide an integrated total solution for the Computerised Social Security System II (CSSS II).
PCCW Solutions was chosen after an open tender process to build a new system, namely CSSS II, to replace the existing Computerised Social Security System that has been in used since 2000. PCCW Solutions will be responsible for the supply, delivery and installation of hardware and software, implementation, operations, and the provision of full scale maintenance services for CSSS II for 10 years.
PCCW Solutions is committed to delivering a best-in-class solution to help Social Welfare Department improve their operation and service. For example, through the new system, staff of the Social Welfare Department will be better equipped with information of cases and less dependent on paper documents to enable more efficient processing and much enhanced service to the public. In line with the e-Government strategy, online self-services will be available to enhance customer communication and deliver convenient and timely service to customers.
